Across Arkansas, there will be a primary election, on my birthday – May 20th. I want to provide my endorsements and urge a strong vote for each of these candidates.

FOR JOYCE ELLIOTT

I cannot think of a more wonderful person to vote for than Joyce Elliott. She has been an educator for 31 yrs. and was a member of the Arkansas State House of Representatives for six years. In her tenure as a State Representative she had a superb progressive voting record. Joyce was a strong advocate of the right to choose, recognizes GLBT Rights are human rights, and is a strong advocate for those of lesser means as well as the creation of Good Paying Jobs with Good Benefits.

Irma Hunter Brown is a wonderful woman but honestly her defense of Dwayne Dobbins, a CONVICTED pedophile and molester and supporting his right to serve in the Arkansas House of Representatives is reprehensible, wrong, and really ridiculous.

FOR WENDELL GRIFFEN

A few words surmize why we should Re-Elect Judge Wendell Griffen to the Arkansas Court of Appeals.

EXPERIENCE, ENERGY, and most of all, INDEPENDENCE. The State of Arkansas has missed a chance twice to promote this man to the Arkansas State Supreme Court. Then, a group of vindictive individuals attempted to “punish” the Judge for speaking his mind. This man who defends the right for others to speak out and disagree with him attempted to take that same right away from him. Luckily, the legal system saw this and found for the JUDGE and against those who are against free speech. Judge Griffen has stood by his values, been unflinching in his devotion to democracy and fairness for all persons, and has been unafraid to stand up for the rights of others who are mistreated and vulnerable.  Judge Griffen has been an advocate for the First Amendment, withstood criticism and attacks for doing so, and his First Amendment position has been upheld in the courts.  In the words of Barry Goldwater, “Courage is a virtue, not a vice.”
